Worsted-like three-ply yarn

Three-ply yarn has been used since ancient times for traditional twisted yarns such as wool, silk, and cotton, and yarns in things that require strength, such as military uniforms, socks, and sewing threads. Wanting to create a synthetic textile with a more classical appearance, we persuaded the weaver and custom-ordered the yarn. This special fabric is the result. Typically, a two-ply yarn has an oval cross-section, while a three-ply yarn has a round one. Twisting three strands together in a z-twist after an initial s-twist tightens the yarn and creates a voluminous hard-twist texture.
